The front lens element of the SIGMA 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary features high-refractive index, high-dispersion glass, which provides extra power and reduces the overall lens length. To optimize the lens for mirrorless cameras, two aspherical lens elements help ensure both outstanding image quality and compactness. The lens incorporates SIGMA's inner focus technologies, and lighter lens elements in the focus lens group enable a more compact actuator.

TSC for a More Compact Structure and Enhanced Performance The SIGMA 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary uses TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) for parts of the lens barrel and aperture system. TSC is highly elastic, which helps minimize deformation over time. This material ensures that parts remain tightly connected, preventing gaps from developing. It also enhances the precision of cells holding lens elements, further improving focus and overall lens performance.
Extra-Long Hood (Supplied) The included lens hood is extra-long and features an anti-reflective coating to manage unwanted light. It is made with rubber and anti-slip textures, making it easy to handle during shooting.
Image Quality Rivaling Our Art Line Lenses The lens incorporates an optimized layout and power distribution. It features one aspherical lens element, one double aspherical lens element, and an element made of high-refractive index, high-dispersion glass with high anomalous partial dispersion. These technologies work together to deliver exceptional light quality to the edges of the image while minimizing transverse chromatic aberration. To correct distortion, the lens takes advantage of the image correction capabilities of the mirrorless camera body. This allows the optical system to enhance sharpness and produce clear, high-quality images. The result is an extremely compact lens that delivers image quality comparable to that of our Art line lenses.
Designed to Minimize Flare and Ghosting From the early stages of design, SIGMA measured flare and ghosting to create an optical system resistant to strong light sources, such as backlighting. SIGMA’s Super Multi-Layer Coating effectively reduces flare and ghosting, enabling photographers to capture sharp, high-contrast images even in backlit conditions. The included lens hood can be attached to block extraneous light, which may otherwise affect image quality.
Shallow Depth of Field for a Beautiful Bokeh Effect The large-diameter lens with an F1.4 aperture allows for a shallow depth of field, producing a beautiful bokeh effect. This effect, previously unavailable in a standard mirrorless camera lens, enhances the aesthetic quality of the image.
